Cavities In Kids?

When I told my 8 year old daughter to brush her teeth tonight she started crying and said that her teeth hurt. I looked in her mouth and was shocked to find what appears to be large cavities in three of her teeth. I don’t allow her to eat sweets or drink soda, so I don’t know how she got the cavities.
I explained to her that she would have to go to the dentist and get fillings, but she’s terrified about going. I have a cavity in my own tooth that I’m aware of and I was thinking about letting her watch me have it filled……but I’m not sure whether seeing the needles and drills would scare her more. Any ideas?
Also, I’m slightly concerned over the worries of amalgam fillings, but we can’t afford to go private unless it’s absolutely necessary – is there really a risk associated with amalgam?
Thanks in advance for your help. (I’m in the UK by the way, and I don’t think we have specialist paediatric dentists over here)

ATHENS, Greece – A 9-year-old girl who went to hospital in central Greece suffering from stomach pains was found to be carrying her embryonic twin, doctors said Thursday.
Andreas Markou, head of the hospital’s pediatric department, said the embryo was a formed fetus with a head, hair and eyes, but no brain or umbilical cord.
Markou said cases where one of a set of twins absorbs the other in the womb occurs in one of 500,000 live births.

Do Nurses With Aa Degrees Have A Hard Time Finding A Job?

I’m taking pre-requisites to enter the Nursing program at my community college which offers an associates degree. I want to find a job after this, like in pediactrics, and then continue working on my bachelor’s degree.
Does that degree do anything or have a title when you get it? Are you able to get a job in a hospital and finish school to get your bachelors?? I guess I am wondering if there are different types of nurses and different schooling to complete them. I was hoping I can get a job in a hospital as something with my AA in nursing, and continue my education so I can get my bachlors. Does anyone know how this all works? Is getting your bachlor degree in nursing the same as nursing school?? What kinda of jobs can I get with an AA in nursing or is there a title for that position?? How much would I start out as with an AA in nursing and eventually get paid when I become a nurse. I am interested in being a pediatric nurse as I love working with children.

Best Sonography School?

I’ve done my share of search. It seems the more I look into it the more confused I get. I want to become a Sonographer. I’ve heard in order to become one I will have to go to a Radiology school first then pursue Sonography. I live in Northern San Diego County, and would like to know if there are any schools out here anyone recommends. I’m not quite sure what I want to go for in terms of being a sonographer, I know there are different fields….I’m leaning more towards pediatric, or maternity….I wouldn’t mind being an X-Ray tech as well…I do want an Associates, not a certificate! I’ve already graduated High School. I’ve been putting off my education for a while, I got married and had a child. So it seems like the perfect time to get back on the saddle . I want to be able to go to a school that is hands on, and the is Accredited. My husband is in the Service so I need a school that has Recognition, in order for us not to have a problem with me finding a job if we had to move. Thank you in advance, and please I would prefer only people in the field answer my question. I’ve done research myself, at this point I’d rather get advice from someone in the field. Thanks

Transfering From Community To University!?

I am a high school senior and i will be graduating early in january. i would like to go to community and get me associates in nursing to become and RN and then transfer to wayne state to eventually become a pediatric surgeon. what exactly would that process be? In other words what classes would i have to take, do i apply to a pre-med program at wayne then med school or do i apply right to the medical school? Nobody can give me answers, not even our crappy counselors at school.

Dental Hygienist Or Rn?

which should i take?
I like both especially if i work w/ kids.. in nursing i’d like to work in pediatrics or eventually in the NICU
In dental id like to work in pediatric dental care (i love kids)
could i take both? im going for an associates degree.
I want to help ppl but would also like to someday have a family n id like a flexible, good paying job.. both pay good i live in Houston n i’ve searched around pay for RN is @ $30 n for dental is $30-36, im pretty sure i could easily get a job in both
Which would you recommend?
Ive also thought about becoming a dentist somewhere in the future
right now id like a 2yr degree in either R.D.H or R.N.
BUT IM CONFUSED I DONT KNOW WAT TO DO!

I’m In Community College, And Considering Changing My Major From Nursing To Physical Therapy.?

As I said, I’m interested in switching my major to physical therapy. However, our school does not offer that program. I believe they do offer career certificates and training programs in jobs such as: Pre-Pharmacy, Physical Therapist Assistants, and so on. I’m unsure of how I would go about obtaining an associates degree in that field. I would like to primarily work in a pediatric setting. Here’s a list of classes I have taken, and maybe someone can help me out with this…by telling me which would transfer and which one would not. I’m going to also speak with my advisor to find out further information. I really would like to expand my knowledge in the field, and obtain a Master’s at La Salle, Temple, Rutgers, or any surrounding Philadelphia school.
Here’s a list of what I’ve already taken/I’m signed up for:
SUMMER 2008: Remedial 4-day Algebra course
FALL 2008: Remedial Reading Skills III; Nutrition; Computer Literacy; Basic Psychology
SPRING 2009: Developmental Psychology; English Composition I; Health & Wellness
SUMMER 2009: Sociology
FALL 2009: Basic Micobiolgy; Biomedical Ethics
SPRING 2010: English Composition II; Social Conflicts; Chemistry
****THE ONLY COURSE I NEED TO RETAKE IS ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY I******
In the summer, I’m going to try to take Statistics or an easy science like Biology.

Community College Vs. University To Become A R.n.?

I am 17 and am in the first semester of my senior year.
I have been debating if I should become a Nurse, a Pediatrician, or just a kinder-garden/pre-k teacher ever since 10th grade… I loveeeeeeeee kids&I want to be involved with them in my career. but now, I finally know what I want to become.
I want to become a R.N. but am confused about many things..
1) Is it better to attend a community college&get my associates or attend a university&get my BSN ?
2) If I attend a community college and switch into a university to get my BSN do I need to take 4 more years of college after my 2 from the community college or will it be 2 years from then community college plus 2 more years from the university?
3) If I take a community college plus a university will I have my associates and my BSN or just one or the other ?
4) Will I have to become a pediatric nurse to help kids or will the R.N. take care of it ? After the R.N. do I need to take extra years of college to become a pediatric nurse ? Do R.N.’S and pediatric nurses do the same things or are they totally different ?

5) After 2 years of community college can I just take classes on-line at a university ? is that better ?

ok well i LOVE working with children,…i’ve volunteered at kindergarten classes ever since i was in 4th grade and today I just got hired at a pre-school as a teacher assistant. I’ve always wanted a career associated with children, but I can’t think of any that make good money. I just decided to take a child development course at the community college that i go to. I’m only 17 years old but I go to college because I graduated a year early. I’ve decided to be a pediatric dentist but I heard that u need to do two years of internship after dental school. What kind of internship? Does anyonee knoww??
