Can you check the punctuation of my work?

I was so happy to have found a new job in Manhattan in just a few days, but I didn’t think that it would give me so much stress!
It has been an incredibly hard week in the new hospital.

Monday started with the first aid shift. I couldn’t believe it. All night there was incredible confusion; oozing blood everywhere, ambulances coming and going, stretchers, and more than 20 emergency operations!

I’m on duty on alternate days and I’ve been sleeping less than 6 hours a day, so now I’ve got two big bags under my eyes.

The pediatric shift has been the icing on the cake; multiple births, weeping children and the usual crowd of relatives worried about their family.

On Thursday I witnessed some operations performed by the head physician, Dr. Gregory Strauss, in cardiology. An elderly man had had three heart attacks in the same day but luckily we managed to save him.

I hope to spend next week in a quieter ward, maybe doing autopsies in the morgue, at least corpses don’t create so much confusion!

Is this on-pace/at a good level and what to do with music?

I’m working on Rigoletto Paraphrase by Liszt right now. I’m 14 years 4 months old, and started working on it back in May. Obviously it’s not finished nor is the quality anything remotely close to Yundi Li’s right now, but hopefully it will get close enough within a year’s time.

Am I at a good level? I’m not really sure what I want to do with music, either… I keep hearing, “You’re gifted!” but no one wants to offer me something I can do with music. The answer is always, “…teach?” Sorry, but piano teachers don’t make the best money in the world, or at least that is my impression. My Russian piano teacher has a Ph.D. in music and she isn’t exactly rich, you know what I mean? I’ve been considering minoring in music and going into something like pediatric cardiology, which I am interested in, but if I’m so “gifted” shouldn’t there be something else available to me? What about international competitions, or becoming a concert pianist? How would you do this?

Is it worth 14+ years of school to become a cardiologist?

This is one career I had been considering somewhat. I am interested in medicine in general but one of the areas I was attracted to was cardiology, since I have personal experience with CVD. But when I was researching the career, I found that you have to have a 3 or 4 year bachelors degree, then four years of med school, then three more years in residency for internal medicine, then ANOTHER three years to subspecialize in cardiology. If you want to specialize in a certain area of cardiology, that’s another one or two years. Yikes. So, if I went to school straight out of high school (which I plan on doing anyways) I’d be 32 – maybe older – by the time I graduated college. That’s quite a bit older than I expected… I wasn’t aware of the extra three years required to subspecialize, and didn’t think that residency would be required to do that beforehand anyways. My stupid mistake.

But the salary is huge… the salary goes from 0,000 to over 0,000 a year. While I would like to enjoy my job, having a decent salary is also a priority for me. I could live with a maximum salary of 0,000, let alone a *starting* salary of that.

But is it really worth it to spend “the best years of your life” stuck studying? I guess I can see now why cardiologists all seem to be (no offense) old and balding… they didn’t even get out of college until they were almost middle-aged! I am very interested in cardiology, but right at this moment I don’t have like some super-burning passion for it to just brush off 14+ years of studying AFTER the 13 years (most) everyone spends in school up until then (elementary through high school). It’s just like doing that all over again, in a sense.

Opinions? Experiences? Suggestions? And are there really any medical jobs that earn a fair wage that don’t take a decade and a half to become qualified in?

Also, if I wanted to specialize in pediatric cardiology, would that mean that I would have to go to an extra year or two of school?

Oh, and I was thinking about being a non-invasive cardiologist, also… I know cardiologists do not perform open surgeries, but I still just don’t think I’d trust myself enough to even do catheterizations.

i am a junior in high school, and i already know what i want to do when i’m older. i want to be a non-invasive pediatric cardiologist.
heres my plan for school
undergrad- spanish and biology majors on premed track
med school- M.D. and M.P.H. dual degree program….

then of course i’ll need to do 3 years res in general pediatrics and 3 more in pediatric cardiology sub-specialty residency.

My daughter had her heart correction last nov 2010. And now she need tooth exaction.?

Hi everyone.
Well i am a junior in high school and i decided that i want to study to be either a pediatrician or a pediatric surgeon specializing in cardiology. I would like to know how long you would have to study to be either one of these professions and how much the salary is for these jobs. Any idea? Also if you know some colleges in the Massachusetts area and New Hampshire area that offer these careers please mention them.

I am interested in pursuing a career as a Pediatric Oncologist. Being able to give second chances to parents an children in my eyes will be the most rewarding career in careers. I have set my mind on being a doctor especially either in (Oncology,Cardiology or Endocrinology). I am not in the medical field for the money but to help however could anyone give me a specific salary a Pediatric Oncologist can make? As well as what are some good hospitals and the hours you would be working.
