Excuse If Tested Positive Of Stds In Front Of Mom? -_-?

Filed in Category Pediatric News

im 17 and i have a physical coming up. since im still under 18, im going to a pediatric doctor and my mom wants to be nosy and insists to watch and listen to ever thing….and of course theres only so much i can argue against her doing so cause then shed know i want to keep something secret from her
i really think i may have an STD cause all the symptoms match up to one, and my bf has same probs so i know its STD related. i am terrified how the doctor will break the urine test to me cause i know i must have chlamydia. my mom will be by my side the entire time casue shes just waiting to pounce on a reason for my bf and i to split (dont ask -_- ..hes an angel) so i dont see any way to ask doctor to keep it secret and dought shed tell my mom to go away and will break the news to her too….
what would a doctor do??? im screwed, arent i?

There are no excuses. The only tip I could recommend is having a private consultation with the doctor beforehand explaining the situation.

well, most of the time the doctor asks the parent to step out for a while. And im not sure but i think that by law whatever you tell the doctor has to stay in the room. He/she has to keep it confidential is you tell the doctor to keep it confidential. So somehow someway get in the room with the doctor alone. Or like they ^^ said go a day before hand.

You should go the day before your apointment to see the docter and let him/her know that you will be seen by him/her the next day but would like the test results privatley.
If that dont work then yes you are scewed lol jk but oh well if ur mom finds out then she find out. That would just be the way it would go down but what you could do is try to make her understand that it is a very common std that most 1 out of four people have had it at least once tell her she might even want to get checked lol. Good thing is that it is completely curable. Ask her not to be so judgmental and to accept it and try to understand.
Or if that dont work then it because mommy knows best and maybe you shouldnt be that with that dude.
    Thats all I got sorry!
    And GOOD LUCK!
Oh she is racist? then who cares what she says!

I doubt your doctor will mention an STD. A physical is to make sure everything is at a good level – like iron levels in your blood and stuff. They won’t bring up anything else then “it looks fine.” I thought I had an STD (it wound up being a yeast infection) a few months ago and I also talked to my doctor about smoking weed, because I had the exact same worries you did — I didn’t want her bringing it up when my mom was in the room! I really wouldn’t worry about anything. It’s all about privacy in doctors offices, they wouldn’t bring anything unnecessary up. Also, they probably wouldn’t even discover that you have a STD without doing a specific test for it. But with that one, I’m not completely sure.
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine!
