My daughter is 7 months old and has had tummy issues since birth. We just found out that she has what is called malrotation. This condition happens during developement and the intestines don’t go into place properly. I am taking her to see a pediatric surgeon as surgery is normally required for this and wanted to see if anyone has gone through and could give me some advice.
My daughter had an upper gi on Monday and the appointment with the surgeon is on Thursday. I am making a list of questions I have and also writing in a journal about everything my baby has gone through since birth.
Serious responses only please, I am not in a state to handle rude comments.

I have recently learned in the past 2 months that I have intestional malrotation. I am 25 years old and having abdominal/pelvic pain and cramping. The malrotation was detected on a cat scan. I have been told that my appendix and colon are on my left side of my body instead of my right. Basically I have learned that my body is just opposite with some body parts. I also learned through the cat scan that I have 2 uterues and 2 cervixes. These all are birth defects, and occurs because things don’t fuse together during a pregnancy. Doctors are not concerned about my defects at this point. The malrotation should not cause any problems, however the extra uterus and cervix makes conceiving a little bit harder and I would be considered a high risk pregnancy, as well as having more at risk for miscarriage and c-section due to a breech baby. I’m glad you are finding out now when your child is younger, rather than being 25 and finding out for the first time.
