Any RN degree (either a 2 year associates degree or a 4 year BSN) qualifies you to work in pediatrics as a staff nurse. There is no special training required – all hospitals or clinics will provide you with a specific orientation that is tailored to the specific unit you will work on, whether it’s peds, OR, ER, or whatever.
Later, when you have more experience, you could earn a special certification in peds, or go to graduate school for a master’s degree and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner if you desired.

If you are just pursuing an RN degree and not a MSN or Nurse Practitioner, I suggest finding a job in a Peds office, or on a Peds floor in a hospital setting or, if your city has one, a pediatric hospital. I wanted to do OB/GYN, so I found a job in that area and learned the specialty as I went, and from older more expirienced co-workers. 14 years later I feel like I have a very good knowledge of my specialty of choice, and I didn’t have to pay a college to teach me, and I gained priceless expirience, while I made money! Just a suggestion, hope it helps a little.
