How Does One Get Rn Pediatric/mental Health Experience If You Need It To Be Hired In The 1st Place?

Filed in Category Pediatric Hospitals

I want to work as a nurse with adolescents in a mental health setting… however, I was looking at jobs at local hospitals & all of them require at least a year in mental health RN or pediatric RN experience. How exactly am I supposed to get this experience if no one will hire me without it? I’m confused.

It depends on what hospital you are interested in going to. When you go through nursing school you will get a mental health rotation. Some hospitals (especially teaching hospitals) will hire a new grad out of school into various units, you just need to shop around a little. :-)

you need volunteer experience and if you do a good job there, they may offer you a job
