You need to become a nurse at whatever level you choose whether to be an LPN – 1 yr, an RN with an associate degree – 2 yrs or a RN with a bachelors degree – 4 yrs. The trick is to get hired in pediatrics either at a general hospital or a children’s hospital. A pediatrician goes to school as long as any other doctor but chooses the area of pediatrics to specialize in so about 10 years total. Salary depends on type of practice and location.

I am going to school right now to beomce an rn and my advisor has a 3 year outline. The average RN in california makes around 65k a year.

All depends what you want as a nurse you can go to two year college or 4 year program, both will get you what you want.

it depends on the country u r in. in my country 4 example , it takes 6 years, but is really hard and after u graduate u have to make other few ears of prepearance with a doc. about the salary, ot is quite big

There is no special training outside of a nursing degree required to go into pediatric nursing. Some hospitals have an apprenticeship program for new grads. I think generally speaking that being a peds nurse is relatively sought after so it might take some years of working in another area before an opening becomes available. There are advanced practic programs that could make a big difference here – these are master’s programs…so it would mean you need a B.S. (four year degree) to consider them.
Pediatricians go to four years of undergrad, followed by four years of medical school, and 3 or 4 years of residency.

Pediatric nursing programs teach students advanced skills in caring for infants, children, and adolescents. Many programs allow you to focus on caring for children with special needs. Or, you can concentrate on a specific age group, such as infants or teenagers. You take courses in child development, diagnosis and treatment, and physiology. You also take courses about health promotion, parenting, and disease prevention. In addition, you take courses in healthcare systems and management skills.
You can become a pediatric nurse by completing a two-year master’s degree program, which is offered through some schools. In addition, many of these programs allow you to become a nurse practitioner upon graduation. This means you can examine, diagnose, and treat your own patients. Others allow you to become a clinical nurse specialist. If you already have a master’s degree in nursing, several programs have one-year, post-master’s certificates in pediatric nursing.
With a degree in pediatric nursing, you can work in hospitals, clinics, and schools. You can also work in community health centers, outpatient centers, and private practice offices. In addition, many people with a master’s degree in pediatric nursing become administrators and managers.
About a dozen schools also offer doctoral degrees. Getting a doctorate usually takes three to five years after you complete your master’s. Most people with a doctoral degree in nursing become professors.
