I Want To Apply For A Secretary Position At A Pediatric Hospital.what Medical Terminology Do I Need To Know?

Filed in Category Pediatric Hospitals

A lot of it depends on what the hospital requires you to know.
Most doctors offices and hospitals are pretty good about letting you “learn as you go” as long as you have the basics.
Check out http://www.quia.com/jg/65945list.html
for some basic terminology:
cardi heart
erythr red
gastr stomach
nephr kidney
oste bone
centesis puncture
tomy incision
megaly enlargement
therm heat
ia condition
hyper excessive
gloss tongue
macro large
micro small
itis inflammation
algia pain
ectomy excision
mast breast
I hope this helps….. and that you get the job you want.
Good Luck !!

It really depends on your responsibilities rather than the fact that it’s a pediatric hospital. Medical terminology is taught through word building and through each body system. Since a childs body contains the same organs as adults I don’t think the type of institution changes things for you. Of course adults have some conditions which aren’t usually found in children but typically medical terminology programs don’t separate them out. My first instinct was to tell you all of it but it really depends on what your job responsibilities would be.
