I'm confused. Are you in a nursing program, about to enter a nursing program, or are considering nursing?
I'll assume you are considering your options right now. The fact is, you won't get anywhere until you apply for a local nursing program. I recommend meeting with an advisor at a local college. If there is one near you, go to a junior college and get your LVN license, then shoot for the RN (ADN or BSN). You will attend so many clinical rotations during nursing school, so it's fair to assume you will know what you want to do in the field of nursing.
That said, there is no special training necessary to choose a "field" within nursing. Simply complete a nursing program - I don't recommend online schools - and go where your heart desires (but if you end up lacking skill in cardiac, I wouldn't recommend working ICU).
