I am a foreigner living in USA and a new comer to the county, and I completed Diploma in Accounting while I was back home , but now I realized that the profession is not rewarding as medicine is. so what are the procedures to apply for school of medicine. shall I take four years degree in science before I go there? or do I have other options?, how is the pre-medicn degree? How may years will it take me? I mean the pre-med, Will the Pre-med degree allow me to work untill i go for M. D ?
How does the pre-med degree is considered? I mean is it a degree ? or what?

Don worry I am still young , 23

I would like to hear funy answers but please be to the P !!!

Pre-med is not a degree. You can major in anything but a good major is biochemistry because it covers all of your prereqs for med school so you can finish in 4 years. You need 4 years of undergrad at any university in the united states, then you have to apply to med school and med school is another 4 years then you do residency and choose if you want to specialize in anything else or become a physician..feel free to contact me on AIM: volumebikes089 or yahoo: burgler09 if you need any more information

Hmmm… Im still in high school but done some research on the whole medical field thing. Im planning to be a GP- general practtioner or pediatric- this typically involves 10-11 around there, years of study (undergraduate 4 years, graduate school 4/3 years, intern 2/3 years).
Yes you can get to work while in coll/undergr.

Pre-medicine is not really a major. Its a program that helps you go through the right path to prepare you for medical school. (you know they make sure youre taking all the right classes that are required for medical school)

The requirements to apply are to take the MCAT, and two semesters of Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, English, Mathematics and Physics. Make sure you take the majority of prereqs at the 4 year university, though (you can take some at CC). You can major in whatever you want as long as you fulfill the requirements (actually, non science majors on average score higher on every section of the MCAT, and have slightly higher acceptance rates to med school, because of there well roundedness and analytical skills. I majored in Political Science in college and was accepted to school. Generally, the rule of thumb is 3.5 + 30MCAT and your money. But also, the most important thing to make sure medicine is right for you- volunteer in the hospital alot, perhaps do some EMS, and learn more about the field, as most people at the beginning of there college careers are illadvised when they think for sure they want to be physicians. But if you end up deciding on medicine, I wish you the best of luck.
