Information About Daycares/learning Centers?

Filed in Category Pediatric Diseases

My child was bit by another child at the daycare/learning center and she was bleeding but I signed a paper that I would not hold the learning center liable. She is always coming home with bumps bruises scrapes.Who can I report this center to? And how do I check out daycares? I am now concerned if this child has any diseases. The pediatric dr. said to request him to be checked. The center will not give me any info. What do I do someone please help me. The bite was below her belly button and a little above her private part.. The owner of the center said that I am acting like this was a 25 yr kid that is sexual active. I said you dont have to be sexual active to have a disease. I am really worried. Please help me my baby was in pain for 2 weeks. Te bitters mother said she will not have her child tested for aides if that is what I am looking for because she dont want her child going thru pain she is not concerned about my child and this makes me sick…

Maybe you are jumping the gun by asking for another child to be tested. Have your child tested and that is enough. The people that give out the stars to daycares or the health department might be able to help you with whatever you are really wanting but really if you have an issue with the daycare, get another one

omg i would take my child out of there immediately!!!! i am not sure where to report this center to but you have to have proof of the bite so you might want to take pictures. then you could do some research and find out where to report them. as far as getting the other child tested i do think that is a little extreme. if you are that concerned about it you can have your child tested and if your child god forbid did happen to have something then you can probably get a court order to have the mother get her child tested.

hi, i understand where your coming from , i myslef am i childcare teacher i have been for 2 years now . it’s very frustrating for both parties when a child goes through a biting phase .my advice is yes definitly go and get your child tested for everything, as you cant make the other child get tested and the centre can’t demand it .and then i would ask for the centre to organise a meeting so you can ask them to put into place a behaviour plan to stop this child from biting , you need to let them know your not happy and that if you dont see changes your going to take it further depending on what country your in as to who you ring to take it further. if your in australia its department of families . as for the other bumps and bruises children fall over all the time i know it looks bad but i urge that you be a bit understanding as accidents do happen how ever if this is a way to regular occurence once again let them know your pissed off. your their client they should be bending over backwards for you. i feel very sorry for your daughter and next time dont sign it if you dont agree with it . all the best :)

Although you signed a paper saying that you won’t hold the center liable, you signed nothing for the parents of individual children. Go back to the center. They should have immunization information on site. While threatening isn’t something i generally recommend, I would use a form of it here. Speak to the center DIRECTOR/OWNER. Tell them that you realize you signed the release, but that if they are unwilling to cooperate with you, your going to be forced to go to the biters parents. Explain that you will have to inform the parents that you tried to work with the center, however they were unwilling, and left you no choice but to hold the biters parents liable. Also make known that if forced to do this, you will be contacting other parents in the center to tell them how unhelpful and concerned you are about all children. Do a little research and find a competing daycare provider in your area. Let the center know that you will recommending all parents to that center.
While being able to see on paper whether or not the biter had all immuniztions will let you rest better, chances are your little girl is safe. You mentioned AIDS in your question. HIV or AIDS cannot be passed through saliva, so your daughter’s chances of getting that are slim, the biter would have had to had blood in his mouth when he bit her, very unlikely. Most centers require children be up to date on immunizations, so the boy probably was. Regardless, your daughter should be up to date with her shots, which will also help rule out any infections.
    Hope that helps. :)
