Is Giving Quinolones For Uti In Children Not Recommended?

if so, what drugs are appropriat for pediatric patients?

    Right. Those problems with cartilage damage in beagle puppies have kept them from being used in kids. That’s good, now that quinolones have been associated with cartilage and tendon problems in real human adults. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxasole still works and is still dirt cheap, just for starters.

    Almost anything else except chloramphenicol and gentamycin can be use in children.
    (Quinolones have been linked by research to joint problems in developing mammals.)
