Realize the requirement for antibiotics is also dependent on the treatment being performed. Some procedures present higher bacterial risks than others that may not require antibiotics.

    The guidelines which have recently been published outline that antibiotic cover is no longer required in people at ri8sk of endocarditis.

    One that I can think of is rheumatic fever or a history of rheumatic fever. Also, any child with a heart valve replacement or any kind of filter, such as a greenfield filter.
