   Pre-medical (often shortened to pre-med) is a term used to describe a track an undergraduate student in the United States pursues prior to becoming a medical student. It refers to the activities that prepare an undergraduate student for medical school, such as pre-med coursework, volunteer activities, clinical experience, research, and the application process.
   You can not become a Pediatrician with only a Pre-Med degree, you must attend medical school. Pre-Med students have a number of different options when it comes to successfully preparing for medical school. Applicants to medical school are required to earn a bachelor’s degree and meet other requirements of medical school. When earning their bachelor’s degree, students have the option of studying any major they wish, as there are no particular majors prescribed by medical schools. That being said, most students elect to study a subject that specifically prepares them, such as biology or chemistry.
   Ohio State-Columbus is an excellent school, and I would suggest looking into it since it was ranked 57th in the nation (out of 1800 college/university). Each year, Ohio State-Columbus has an entering class of about 2000 college/university students. For those 2000 seats in its first-year college/university class, Ohio State-Columbus receives over 29,000 applications. About 2,100 (8%) of the 29,000 applicants will be admitted, since some people will be accepted at many college/university and will turn down Ohio State-Columbus’s offer of admission.
   I would say maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher is the best advice that I can give you. Ohio State feels that these are the most promising applicants in terms of their academic performance in college.
