Please read my statement completely before jumping into answers.
By nature males and females are born in approximately the same ratio. A female child has more immunity than a male child. A female child can fight the germs and diseases better than the male child. For this reason, during the pediatric age itself there are more deaths among males as compared to the females.
During wars, there are more men killed as compared to women. More men die due to accidents and diseases than women. The average life span of females is more than that of males, and at any given time one finds more widows in the world than widowers.
In the USA, women outnumber men by 7.8 million. New York alone has one million more females as compared to the number of males, and of the male population of New York one-third are gays i.e sodomites. The U.S.A as a whole has more than twenty-five million gays. This means that these people do not wish to marry women. Great Britain has four million more females as compared to males. Germany has five million more females as compared to males. Russia has nine million more females than males. God alone knows how many million more females there are in the whole world as compared to males.
Even if every man got married to one woman, there would still be more than thirty million females in U.S.A who would not be able to get husbands (considering that America has twenty five million gays). There would be more than four million females in Great Britain, 5 million females in Germany and nine million females in Russia alone who would not be able to find a husband.
Suppose my sister happens to be one of the unmarried women living in USA, or suppose your sister happens to be one of the unmarried women in USA. The only two options remaining for her are that she either marries a man who already has a wife or becomes public property. There is no other option. All those who are modest will opt for the first.
In Western society, it is common for a man to have mistresses and/or multiple extra-marital affairs, in which case, the woman leads a disgraceful, unprotected life. The same society, however, cannot accept a man having more than one wife, in which women retain their honourable, dignified position in society and lead a protected life.
Thus the only two options before a woman who cannot find a husband is to
marry a married man
or to become public property.
Islam prefers giving women the honourable position by permitting the first option and disallowing the second.

You left out a very popular third option…remaining single and enjoying her career/personal life without a husband. Which I plan on doing for quite a while.
They should keep an eye out for single guys, especially guys who have pictures of surrealistic artists as their profile pic

That doesn’t follow at all (what does it even mean?). A REAL second option would be for this woman to keep looking for a single man (divorce rates are high, after all). That is, of course, if she WANTS to get married. There are any number of options for ways people can live.
Also, I noticed you didn’t factor in female homosexuals into your calculations. Something to think about.
If you want to limit yourself to those two options (I don’t know why you would), then feel free to do so. But you can’t expect us to view your dilemma through the same narrow lens.

Some of us prefer to live without a husband or children. I am so glad that I live in the U.S. where I am a human being with rights to live free. Do you thing that all a woman is made for is to have sex and babies? We are not! Oh, my blood pressure it going up!! Women can work, own property and enjoy their life without a man in my country. And, no, we are not all lesbians either!! Some of us enjoy being celibate. Maybe you should try it.
What the heck is “public property”? Welcome to America, women can have careers and even think for themselves here. also your numbers calculate the number of gay men, but there are also plenty of lesbians.
Plenty of women CHOOSE not to get married (shock!). i know it’s hard to grasp the idea of a woman daring to be independent but believe it or not, not everyone wants to be married. especially not to someone who already has a bunch of wives and will probably treat you like a slave anyway.
Sorry, but why does a women have to have a husband in the first place. Also the options you present are not the only options available. To have more than one wife is disgusting and very abusive to women and it has been shown not to work. Women deserve the right to only have one husband or not at all. There are many options in western culture for women and we do not all need husbands.
In our society we accept women as equals, and do not accept subservience of women. Its a pity you have been brian washed to believe differently.
Your line of logic assumes that all women WANT to marry in the first place; not all women do. It also does not take into account lesbians, or minors, or women who don’t want to marry YET but perhaps later… and so on. Polygamy is more of a cultural phenomenon in some–not all–Muslim countries, just as is the wearing of an abaya. The Quran does not state, word-for-word, that women MUST wear an abaya, MUST NOT be allowed to drive, MUST NOT go to school… etc. That’s why not all Muslim countries have adopted those rules as law: because they reflect cultural values. That, and some Muslim countries have actually realized that not all of their citizens are Muslim, and that non-Muslims don’t like being made to follow what is “haram” vs. “halal” (since that is only of importance to Muslims, not to the rest of us).
Also, most modern societies in the world frown on polygamy in general for many moral reasons, as well as gender equality reasons and economic reasons.
I’m not female, but I have no doubt that most females who read your question will find a lot to say about it, and I doubt most of it will be positive.
Your entire premise is flawed because you fail to account for lesbians, divorce rates, female adulterers, asexuals, and women who are happy being single and not basing their self-esteem on men or religion.
I’m sorry, your figures (as your logic) are flawed. Polygamy as desperation and self-sacrific is not honorable. You’re basically arguing that multiple women are equal in worth to a single man.
